A 400-gram pancake from Lao Sheng tea material in 2007 from Linzhang. The material is entirely from spring shoots, and the cake was wet stored in warehouse in Kunming near the lake.
Flavor profile: dried apricots, pear, apples, dried fruits, mint, tobacco, dried berries, frankincense, smoky and floral undertones. There’s no leather or "woody" aroma here; the fruity component dominates, despite its substantial age. In the aftertaste, there’s a refreshing sweetness and a gentle bitterness. No unpleasant bitterness even with prolonged exposures. Resilient to multiple infusions, 8 grams are enough for a ceremony for 2−3 people.
If I had to describe the state in one word — tranquility. It makes you want to be silent and just breathe. It doesn’t hit you hard; instead, it relaxes and stops the information noise accumulated during the day. A fruity old-timer for moments when you just want to ponder and watch a glowing light in the night.
