It is vintage Japanese houhin with a volume of 220 ml from the late 90s in the style of Oni-Hagi from the master Futaba Yukihisa 二葉幸. They can be used for Japanese teas such as matcha, as well as for other teas like oolongs and pu-erh.
A little background: Hagi is an ancient type of Japanese pottery from the city of Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Oni-Hagi is a sub-style of Hagi that is characterized by its rough texture, irregularities, and the uniqueness of each piece. It is said that the first masters of Oni-Hagi were inspired by the elements of the sea and tried to convey the flows of turbulent waves in the patterns and forms of their creations.
Houhin is unique, incredibly tactile and visual, making you want to hold, rotate, and examine it. The clay is porous, so over time, the crackle pattern will absorb the tea’s design, surprising you with a new ornament. The houhins are new, with a quick pour.
