One of the top and most popular varieties of Guangdong Oolongs is Mi Lan Xiang Dan Cong, "Honey Orchid". Spring harvest 2023.
Flavor profile: macadamia, roasted almonds, honey, pastry, grapefruit, vanilla, with herbaceous and creamy notes. The aftertaste has a citrusy tang, moderate astringency, and sweetness.
It brews instantly, pour it out quickly — don’t think, if you forget, you’ll taste the bitterness :)
Proportions: 4−5 grams per 100 ml in a gaiwan or teapot, water at 90−95°C. No thermoses, if you want to brew in a cup, use no more than 2 grams per 220−250 ml.
Drink it leisurely, it holds up for 5−6 infusions, I haven’t tried more — one "engine" only.
It definitely energizes, clears the mind, and helps you focus. Ideal in the morning or after a hearty lunch when you really don’t want to work. In the evening, it might wake you up and keep you going until morning :)
A great option for getting to know the world of Dan Congs.
